ACC 2020 Online option
As of mid-May there is a ban on gatherings of more than 10 people in Colorado, and potentially gatherings of our size will be prohibited in July. In responses to our survey, more than 80% of 1100 respondents from our ACC community recently suggested we should host a fully online conference in 2020. Therefore, we are currently investigating our options for a potentially fully online conference, and AACC is negotiating with the hotel on potential cancellation of the in-person events. We plan to have an online registration rate for the conference and will provide additional information about this rate as well as potential partial refunds in the coming weeks, once negotiations with the hotel are completed. Please hold off on making travel-related purchases (such as hotel rooms, flights, etc.) until we have more clarity.
Despite this uncertainty, we are still anticipating strong participation in ACC 2020 from our community, including 820+ accepted papers with final versions submitted. We will offer online versions of most of our conference activities, including a robust Late-Breaking Poster session. Also, as planned, all accepted and registered papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
Moreover, we have funds to provide registration support for students. If you or someone you know could use such registration support, please ask them to apply here.
Since online presentations can be subject to internet-related disruption, we are working with Paperplaza to enable you to upload videos of your presentations ahead of time, which can be shown during the conference, followed by Q&A. If you prefer to make a live presentation using your slides, you can consider the uploaded video as a backup in case there are technical difficulties. The video upload to paperplaza will start on June 1st and the deadline for video upload is June 15th, 2020. Details will be provided in the coming weeks.
Even if you are not able to attend in person, we plan to have online gatherings, formal/informal meetings with your friends and colleagues, chats, posters, exhibits and special sessions. We hope that you will have an informative and enjoyable ACC, including networking with colleagues, even though many of us will be participating remotely. Note that all conference activities will be scheduled using Mountain Time as if you were in Denver.
